As an International
Courier company we are obliged to abide by all regulations set out by
HM Customs & Excise.
As part of HM
Customs & Excise commitment to have all import and export shipping
entries handled electronically by 2005, all non-document shipments bound
for destinations outside the EEC must be accompanied by a Commercial
Invoice must comprise four original copies (no e-mails or photo copies)
on your company headed paper, which must include your VAT registration
number where applicable. The document must include;
Consignee Address, full name, zip code and telephone number
Description of what is being sent
Quantity of each item
Unit Value (No items can be of zero value)
Currency Code (GBP, USD etc)
Reason for export

Hints & Tips
for exporting by Air Courier
to include a telephone number for P.O.Box addresses.
For all material bound for South America, you must have a telephone
number for the consignee.
Always have a full post/zip code for all your shipments, and a contact
telephone number wherever possible.
If you are in any doubt as to whether your shipment is classed as Documents
or Non-documents, do please call us, as delays will be incurred if we
have to collect Commercial Invoices from you having already collected
If you are sending VHS/Beta or any other format containing visual images
to the USA please tell us the length of tape used, duration of the recording
and an outline of the contents, as we have to make a declaration on
your behalf for these items to clear customs. If we have to call you
for this info it may delay the delivery of your shipment.
If you are sending any form of clothing/material/textiles to the USA,
please tell us the type of fabrics used and a description of the garment
as we have to make a declaration on your behalf in order for you shipment
to clear customs, and there may be a delay if we have to call you for
If you are sending any item with a Visual Display Screen (Lap-Top, Palm
Pilot, Mobile Phone etc.) to the USA, please tell us the make, model,
serial number and country of origin, as we have to make a declaration
on your behalf in order for your shipment to clear customs, and a delay
may be incurred if we have to call you for this info.
Finally, if you are sending shoes or footwear of any description to
the USA, you will need to complete United States Custom Service Form
5523 for the importation of footwear. This is available from Ipex.
Please remember, we cannot send any foodstuffs or perishable items of
any description to the USA.
